If They Build the Road, They WILL Build the Bridge
Our group is concerned that the Parkway extension and the bridge over Jackson Park are becoming more often treated by the media and the city as separate issues. We worry the City will use the Jackson Park bridge as a bargaining chip for a compromise decision on the Parkway Corridor development. The City’s track record on developing the “Parkway By Stealth” suggests we should be very suspicious of such a compromise. Continue reading

It’s a Glorified Sidewalk, Not a Trail
One of the main points AECOM is putting forward in their efforts to reduce opposition to their proposals to pave the Parkway is that a trail can still be accommodated beside the Parkway road. For trail users, it is possibly the one part of the proposals that makes the least sense. A trail beside a road does not equal a trail through greenspace. Continue reading
